Hockey Development

Developing Student-Athletes for Success On and Off the Ice

MacLachlan College's Hockey Development Program helps student-athletes strengthen their skills, discipline, and mindset through a balance of on-ice training, off-ice conditioning, and mental performance coaching.

Designed for girls and boys rep-level players in Grades 9 to 12, the program provides a professional coaching environment that supports both athletic and academic success. Students benefit from structured training, skill development, game awareness, leadership opportunities, and performance-focused guidance that prepares them for competitive hockey and post-secondary pathways.

Through a combination of technical instruction, strength and conditioning, hockey IQ development, and character-building experiences, student-athletes are challenged to reach their full potential on and off the ice.

Academics & Athletic Balance

At MacLachlan College, we believe student-athletes should never have to choose between academic achievement and athletic development. Our Hockey Development Program is intentionally designed to support both.

Academic staff work closely with student-athletes to ensure they remain on track in the classroom while participating in high-performance training. Students benefit from a challenging academic environment, personalized support, and opportunities to pursue Advanced Placement (AP) courses in Grades 11 and 12.

By integrating training into the school day, student-athletes can focus on developing their skills while maintaining balance and achieving success both on and off the ice.

Athletic Guidance & Post-Secondary Planning

Our Athletic Guidance Program helps student-athletes and their families navigate the path to post-secondary athletics and academics with confidence.

Students receive personalized support in areas such as:
  • Academic planning and course selection
  • NCAA and U SPORTS eligibility guidance
  • University and college admissions planning
  • Scholarship opportunities
  • Student-athlete goal setting and development
