Our Campuses

Student Life

At MacLachlan College, students thrive in a dynamic, inclusive environment where learning is connected to the real world and a growth mindset is key. Our rigorous academics are balanced by vibrant clubs, athletics, and school spirit, helping students build resilience, confidence, and meaningful connections that enrich the entire family experience.

House Teams

MacLachlan’s vibrant House System includes all students from K to Grade 12, encouraging school spirit, fair play, participation and achievement. Our house system is comprised of four houses which foster strong bonds with fellow students, as well as providing a healthy rivalry through inter-house activities, house league events and fundraising competitions. Each house name has local historical significance, named after extraordinary founding Oakville settlers.
Colborne Gators are named after Sir John Colborne, who served as Lieutenant Governor of Upper Canada from 1828 to 1836, and later as Governor General of Upper and Lower Canada. He played a major role in shaping early Ontario by encouraging immigration and expanding public education. He also improved infrastructure by building roads, bridges and communication systems across the province.
Sumner Sharks are named after George Johnson Sumner, Oakville’s first Chief Constable and one of its most respected early settlers. Known for his sense of fairness and dedication, Sumner helped shape Oakville’s early identity through his leadership, kindness, and commitment to civic duty.
Thomas Red Hawks are named after Merrick Thomas, an early settler who oversaw the construction of Oakville’s harbour. After losing his mother as a child, Thomas survived on his own and went on to build a homestead in 1829. He married William Chisholm’s sister and contributed to the town’s early growth.
Chisholm Cheetahs are named after Colonel William Chisholm, the founder of Oakville. In 1827, he purchased land at the mouth of Sixteen Mile Creek to build a thriving port town. His vision included a working harbour, roads, water-powered mills, and attracting skilled workers to build the future of Oakville.

Clubs & Activities

Our vibrant club program is designed to create a heightened state of involvement that adds depth to our school community, creates school spirit, and forges new friendships.

Club involvement encourages students to explore their passions and discover new interests within their private school experience at MacLachlan. Participation in co-curricular clubs and activities is highly encouraged and supported at all grade levels.
Clubs are teacher facilitated which provides faculty and students the opportunity to work together outside the formal classroom setting. Most activities take place during the lunch recess. Some examples of our clubs include:

Beyond the Classroom

We believe that having experiences outside of the classroom enriches student learning and gives students an invaluable opportunity to explore their community, their country and other parts of the world.
