Exploring Ecosystems at Claireville Conservation Area
Our Grade 9 Geography students headed to Claireville Conservation Area for a day of hands-on learning, exploring local ecosystems and putting their classroom knowledge into practice.
During the morning, students conducted an ecosystem field study, identifying different species and examining the abiotic (non-living) conditions of the environment. They collected data on water temperature, pH levels, turbidity, and other environmental factors to better understand the conditions that influence local ecosystems.
In the afternoon, students turned their attention to navigation and technology, learning how to use GPS devices before heading out to locate geocaches hidden by their classmates.
To prepare future-ready individuals, we need to share and instill common values across our school community and embed these values in everything we do.
