Our Gr. 5 students visited Crawford Lake, an especially meaningful experience as we recognized Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
Connecting to their current Indigenous Peoples unit, students deepened their learning about Indigenous cultures while reflecting on the importance of honouring and respecting the land. They explored life in the longhouse, learned about the many ways the land and its resources were used, and discussed our shared responsibility to care for the land and those who live on it.
It was a meaningful day of learning, reflection, and connection beyond the classroom.
To prepare future-ready individuals, we need to share and instill common values across our school community and embed these values in everything we do.
