Over the past few years our school has been moving forward in meaningful ways. We have taken on new programs, a new campus, and new partnerships. Growth can be exciting and it can also be scary, especially in a world that is changing so quickly. What keeps us grounded are the values that have been here from the beginning. We know who we are and we know what we stand for.
We are rooted in tradition and guided by vision.
Learning for a Changing World
This fall we welcomed Pam Snively, Chief Data and Trust Officer at TELUS, for a MacLachlan Speaker Series event focused on Artificial Intelligence and the future of work. Pam encouraged our students to think about how technology is shaping society and what it means to make responsible choices in a digital world. She reminded us that the future belongs to young people who can think critically and act with empathy.
Mr. Gregory Dominato also shared an update on our pilot project Putting the I in AI, which gives students the chance to explore AI from a human perspective. Even as new tools emerge, our goal remains the same. We want students to stay thoughtful, curious, and confident about the world they are growing into.
Growth Through Community
Our progress this year has been supported by partnerships that help learning come alive in real, practical ways. We are thankful for our collaborators who share their time, expertise, and belief in our students.
Hilton for hands on opportunities in leadership and hospitality
The Oakville Community Foundation for supporting youth voices and local engagement
POGO for helping students understand the importance of wellness and advocacy
AACN for strengthening diversity, inclusion, and leadership learning
We are also excited about our developing relationship with the McConnell Foundation, which will open new pathways for Indigenous youth in sport and education. This work matters and we are committed to doing it with care.
Even small changes can make a big difference. Our new collaboration with Mabel’s Labels is one example of how we are working to make life easier for families as our camp and school programs continue to grow.
Growth at MacLachlan is not only about adding new programs. It is about deepening our roots and staying true to the values that make this school feel like home. Curiosity. Compassion. Connection. These are the qualities that guide us as we look ahead.
To prepare future-ready individuals, we need to share and instill common values across our school community and embed these values in everything we do.
