Our Grade 7–11 ESL students took their learning beyond the classroom with a culinary field trip to Little Kitchen Oakville. This hands-on experience combined language learning, teamwork, and creativity in a real-world setting.
As soon as they arrived, students suited up in chef coats and got to work under the guidance of a professional instructor and two assistants. Each student had their own cooking station and followed detailed instructions to make one of Japan’s most beloved dishes, Shoyu Ramen.
When the ramen was ready, everyone brought their creations back to school to taste and share. Some loved it, others found it a bit sweet, but all agreed it was a unique and rewarding experience.
To prepare future-ready individuals, we need to share and instill common values across our school community and embed these values in everything we do.
