Making History at MacLachlan

September always brings a special kind of energy to MacLachlan College. The excitement of new beginnings and the familiar buzz in our halls remind us that while the seasons change, our community remains a constant.

For alumni, September is more than the start of a new school year. It is a chance to reconnect, reflect, and celebrate how MacLachlan continues to grow alongside you. Each of you is part of the history of this school, and together we continue to write its story.

Reconnection and Community

Over the past year, we have been inspired by alumni who returned to share their journeys, whether through career panels, mentorship, or simply walking back onto campus. Every story reminds us that the MacLachlan experience does not end at graduation. It evolves and continues to shape who we are.

One alum described the feeling of coming back as “like coming home.” That sense of belonging and connection is what we hope every graduate carries with them, no matter where life leads.

Alumni Spotlight: Michael Hendershot ’88

From eight students above a convenience store to a legacy that lives on.

This fall we had the honour of reconnecting with Michael Hendershot, Class of 1988, a member of MacLachlan’s very first graduating class. Back then, the school had only eight students, two teachers, and a dream.

Today, Michael is a Senior Wealth Advisor and Portfolio Manager at Wellington Altus Private Wealth, recognized for his integrity, expertise, and commitment to his clients. Just as importantly, his values of family, community, and mentorship continue to resonate across generations of MacLachlan alumni.

Our conversation with Michael was filled with stories from the early days, wisdom passed down, and ideas about how we can carry our traditions into the future. He reminded us that MacLachlan is not just a school. It is a lifelong community. And our alumni are living proof of what tradition, courage, and connection can build.
