As the school year came to a close last month, MacLachlan’s halls were filled with the echoes of laughter, last-minute goodbyes, and heartfelt moments of reflection. Just this week, I sat with several Upper School teachers as they shared how emotional it has been to watch this year’s graduating class prepare to leave.
This group of students began high school in Grade 9 at the height of the pandemic, navigating online classrooms, masked friendships, and virtual milestones. Now, four years later, they walk across the stage not only as graduates but as resilient, compassionate, and hopeful young adults. The pride (and the tears) from our faculty said it all.
It’s a reminder of just how powerful the MacLachlan journey is, and how it continues long after the last bell rings.
Welcome Back Class of 1988
On July 3rd, we are honoured to welcome MacLachlan’s first-ever graduating class back to our new campus for a special reunion. They’ll be joined by beloved former staff and our school’s founder, Audrey Hadfield, for an afternoon of reconnection and shared memories. It’s a full-circle moment that beautifully captures what the Mac community is all about.
A Joyful Celebration of Pride
In June, we also had the joy of hosting our second annual Drag Brunch, an inclusive, uplifting event that brought together alumni, families, and friends to celebrate Pride and the vibrant spirit of our community.
Alumni Giving Back, Guiding Forward
We’re also proud to share that several alumni are already playing a key role in the work of the MacLachlan College Educational Foundation (MCEF). Their involvement reflects the strength of our alumni network and the passion so many of you bring to supporting future generations of Mac students. We’re incredibly grateful to those who’ve stepped forward to help shape the future of alumni engagement at MacLachlan.
As we move into summer, we hope you carry a bit of that Mac spirit with you, whether you’re reconnecting with old classmates, planning a visit back to campus, or simply reflecting on what MacLachlan means to you.
We’ll be sharing more stories, updates, and opportunities to connect in the weeks ahead. But for now, we wish you a summer filled with rest, reconnection, and renewal.
To prepare future-ready individuals, we need to share and instill common values across our school community and embed these values in everything we do.
