Grade 5 students had an exciting and hands-on learning experience during their Matter Workshop at the Hamilton Museum of Steam and Technology. They explored different states of matter through engaging experiments, including making oobleck to investigate non-Newtonian fluids and mixing vinegar with baking soda to inflate a balloon using gas produced from a chemical reaction.
In addition to the workshop, students enjoyed a guided tour of the museum where they learned about the history and mechanics of steam power. With sunny weather on their side, the class also had time to relax and play in the open field, making it a well-balanced day of learning, discovery, and fun.
As one of their final field trips of the school year, the experience was a memorable way to connect science, history, and real-world innovation.
To prepare future-ready individuals, we need to share and instill common values across our school community and embed these values in everything we do.
