  • Early Childhood Educator

    It is the general duty of Registered Early Childhood Educators to establish a respectful and equitable learning environment and to maintain a positive attitude, for the purpose of encouraging students to develop and fulfill their academic potential.

    Registered Early Childhood Educators are also expected to demonstrate a commitment to student learning, achievement and well-being in accordance with the professional standards of the College of Early Childhood Educators and the I.B. Primary Years Programme standards and practices.
     
    Position Expectations:

    • Support and teach a prescribed number of periods.
    • Plan, deliver and maintain the Extended Hours program.

    • Support MacLachlan College’s extra-curricular programming by volunteering time, knowledge and enthusiasm in a variety of ways such as coaching, school events, and performances.
     
    Qualifications:
    • ECE/RECE certification
    • Must be registered and a member in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators 
    • Understanding and knowledge of the Childcare Early Years Act requirements
    • First aid and CPR Certification
    • Demonstrated Integrity & Trust 
    • Possesses excellent communication skills

    The Position: 
    The Maintenance Technician is responsible for general maintenance, repair, upkeep and operations of the building, grounds and equipment.  This includes performing routine preventative maintenance and ensuring the safety and overall function of the facilities. They may also be involved in cleaning, landscaping and facility improvements.
     
    Key Responsibilities:
    •    Perform routine repairs on buildings, equipment, and machinery using hand and power tools
    •    Performing general maintenance, including repairing minor issues such as leaky faucets, broken locks, or damaged drywall, replacing lightbulbs and other fixtures
    •    Performing preventative maintenance on equipment to prevent future issues
    •    Diagnosing mechanical, electrical and structural problems
    •    Assisting with plumbing and other repairs, including replacing doors, windows, and flooring
    •    Performing routine tasks like sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting
    •    Maintaining cleanliness in all areas of the facility
    •    Handling waste disposal and recycling
    •    Mowing lawns, maintaining landscaping and clearing snow and ice
    •    Conducting regular inspections of buildings and grounds to identify maintenance needs
    •    Inspecting equipment and systems like ventilation and fire alarms as well as performing regular fire drills
    •    Reporting maintenance issues to supervisors or facility managers
    •    Maintaining records of maintenance and repair tasks
    •    Ensuring the safety and security of school buildings
    •    Complying with safety regulations and protocols
    •    Responding to emergency maintenance requests
    •    Assisting with moving equipment and materials
    •    Collaborating with other maintenance staff and contractors
    •    Ordering and stocking supplies
    •    Driving school shuttle between campuses
     
    Skills and Qualifications:
    •    Secondary school education, or high-school equivalency (CAEC)
    •    Previous experience as a facilities or maintenance working an asset
    •    Previous experience working in school facilities an asset
    •    Valid driver’s licence and clean driving record
    •    Strong organizational skills
    •    Strong technical skills and knowledge 
    •    Strong communication and skills
    •    Self-motivated
    •    Work individually or in a group

    The successful candidate will bring a thoughtful, hands-on approach to the classroom that actively engages the students and develops them as critical thinkers and problem solvers. Our teachers are responsible for curriculum planning, instruction, and assessment for the courses that they teach. Some additional responsibilities may also be assigned as part of the teacher’s duties.

    • Familiarity with SMARTBoard, iPad technology, Teams, Toddle and Atlas Rubicon curriculum mapping 
    • Experience related to running or supporting co-curricular activities
