The Grade 11/12 Class celebrated the Epiphany in French class in a traditional French way by eating a cake called "la Galette des Rois". It is a long-standing tradition to celebrate "le jour des rois" (Kings day) on January 6th, when the kings went to visit baby Jesus. The delicious cake is made up of layered pastry filled with almond paste and the fun of it is that there is always a small trinket or figurine baked into the pastry. The oldest person cuts the cake without anyone looking and the youngest child goes under the table and picks which person gets which slice. The guests start eating and whoever ends up with the slice that contains the surprise gets to wear the Kings crown all day and it is said they will have good luck all year!
