As part of the Migration unit, our Grade 3 students visited Westfield Heritage Village to deepen their understanding of rural life in Southern Ontario between 1790 and 1850. Students explored several heritage buildings and learned about the daily experiences of early settlers in Canada.
Throughout the day, students attended a historical school lesson, explored traditional farm life, participated in period appropriate chores, took a guided nature walk, and performed a migration themed play. This immersive experience allowed students to make meaningful connections between their classroom learning and the lived experiences of early settlers.
To prepare future-ready individuals, we need to share and instill common values across our school community and embed these values in everything we do.
