Take Sophie Gregg, Class of 2020. From the hallways of MacLachlan to the beaches of Australia and now the halls of law school, Sophie has carried the lessons and leadership cultivated here across the globe. During her time at MAC, she embraced every opportunity, serving as a prefect, taking part in local and international conferences, and forging friendships that continue to shape her life. A leadership conference in India, a cultural trip to Japan, and Duke of Edinburgh adventures were just some of the experiences that left their mark.
After graduating virtually during the pandemic, Sophie went on to study Law, Justice, and Society at Dalhousie University, later working at a Halifax law firm before receiving her acceptance to Osgoode Hall Law School. This fall, she begins the next chapter of her journey back in Toronto, carrying with her the confidence and preparation MAC instilled.
Her story is a powerful reminder that even one chapter at MacLachlan can spark a lifetime of impact, and that the friendships and sense of belonging found here travel with you no matter how far you go.
Because here is the thing: whether you walked these halls for one year or from kindergarten through Grade 12, you are part of this community. Your story is part of our story.
When I talk with alumni, I often hear the same reflection: MAC was more than a school, it was a place that felt like home. Sometimes it was the first place you felt understood in a new country. Sometimes it was where you learned how to lean into curiosity, leadership, and creativity. Always, it was where lifelong friendships were born.
That thread of belonging stretches across borders. It does not fade with time or distance. It simply waits to be picked up again.
This fall, our alumni calendar is filled with opportunities to reconnect. Alumni Open Gym nights on October 2 and 20 are a chance to pick up a basketball, volleyball, or pickleball and remember the joy of play. Our Fall Social and Alumni Mixer on October 17 invites you back into the rhythm of conversation, laughter, and community. And in March, we will host a Global Alumni Chat, a virtual space for Mariners across the world to connect.
Wherever you are, the MAC compass points you home.
