MacLachlan values the importance of physical activity and wellness in our students as part of a well-rounded education. There are many valuable lessons students can learn through participation in athletics. Sport facilitates leadership, perseverance and teamwork, as well as determination to achieve group and individual goals. It encourages team spirit, sportsmanship and pride in representing MacLachlan College. Sport also promotes comradery, nurtures resilience and teaches students to deal with both the joy and disappointment of winning and losing.
MacLachlan offers a broad range of team and individual sports for students to participate in and are encouraged to make physical activity a part of a healthy lifestyle. Students are able to participate through intramurals as well as on school teams. As a member of the Private School’s Athletic Association (PSAA) we compete with other independent schools across the GTA. Our teams compete in a variety of sports including: baseball, basketball, volleyball, track and field, cross-country running, floor hockey, and soccer.
The benefits of physical activity go beyond physical health and wellness and are also known to include: positive mental health benefits, stress relief, and improved academic performance. Our programs are focused on encouraging students to develop new skills, build their confidence and foster self-discipline, commitment and self-respect.
