Investing in new and innovative ways to enhance the learning environment is central to MacLachlan College’s Strategic Plan for 2015-2020. As such, the school has transformed traditional classrooms to better engage today's dynamic and social learners. In keeping with the school's mission and core values, MacLachlan has embraced the idea that an innovative classroom environment “cultivates intellectual curiosity in its students and inspires them to be active contributors to our ever changing world.”
Classrooms and other learning spaces have been transformed with new desks, chairs and other furnishings to create 21st-Century creative learning hubs. The innovative Steelcase furniture supports the concept that movement is key to active learning. When students and teachers can move about easily they are more interactive, collaborative, comfortable and engaged in class. These adaptive and dynamic learning spaces promote and cultivate an environment of open interaction and communication throughout the classroom and enables students and teachers to connect existing knowledge to new thinking.
